The Livingston Health Department, in conjunction with Saint Barnabas Medical Center, will offer a prediabetes risk assessment program on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
The program will be held at the Livingston Public Library (10 Robert H. Harp Drive, Livingston) and is for those who currently have prediabetes or feel they are at risk for developing diabetes.
Prediabetes is very common and affects 1 in 3 adults in the United States. Many adults with prediabetes are unaware that they have the condition. People who are prediabetic are at risk for developing diabetes because their blood sugar levels are high (though not high enough to be diabetic).
The good news is that the onset of developing diabetes can be prevented or delayed by making lifestyle changes.
Join us as Alison Eisenhart, Renal Transplant Clinical Pharmacist at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, discusses the risk factors for diabetes and the steps you can take to lower your risk of developing diabetes.
A free gluscose screening will also be offered.
