[ARCHIVED] Hydrant Flushing, August 24

Fire hydrant being flushed

Livingston's Water Division will be performing maintenance and flushing on the following streets on August 24:

  • Chestnut Street
  • East Northfield Rd

Residents will receive a phone call when Water Division employees will be working in their area. The work will be completed between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The state has mandated that all water systems must flush all their hydrants annually. As a result of the line-flushing process, residents in the immediate vicinity of the work may experience temporary, unavoidable discoloration of their water and some loss of pressure.

In the case of discolored water, run cold water from a tap close to your water meter until the water clears up.

The Water Division strongly recommends refraining from using hot water or doing laundry during the flushing period.
