February is recognized nationally as American Heart Month to raise awareness for heart health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. While some risk factors for heart disease cannot be controlled, there are several changes you can make to decrease your risk, including getting the recommended amount of physical activity each week and choosing to eat more nutritious foods.
To learn more about heart disease and reducing your risk, visit Livingston Health Department’s heart health education display table in the lobby on the first floor of Livingston Town Hall, 357 S. Livingston Avenue. When visiting Town Hall, be sure to wear a face covering and observe social distancing guidelines. Information is also available on the American Heart Association’s website at heart.org.
While COVID-19 remains a critical concern, the Health Department reminds residents to take necessary steps to attend to their overall health and communicate with a healthcare professional in the event of any issues and for regular checkups.
