If you haven’t gotten a flu vaccine yet, it’s still not too late to get one before the holidays.
The flu is a respiratory virus that can be mild or severe. While most people recover from the flu within a few days, for others, it can lead to complications such as pneumonia, heart problems, and ear infections. One of the best ways to protect yourself from the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year, which can lower your risk. Those who get a flu vaccine may still get the flu; however, they may only get a milder case and might not experience complications from the flu due to the protection the vaccine provides.
The Livingston Health Department offers the Flulaval Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine and the High-Dose Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine licensed for those who are 65 and older. Only adults over the age of 18 can receive a flu shot at the clinics while supplies last.
Flu shots are at no cost with Medicare Part B; all others cost $10. Appointments are not needed.
