Licenses and Permits

Door-to-Door Solicitation

Door-to-door solicitors/peddlers in Livingston Township must obtain a license. Please submit the completed Solicitation Permit Application (PDF) to the Municipal Clerk’s office. Licenses are annual and expire December 31st each year.

Once the license is issued by the Township, the second page of the license will be required for you to maintain in your possession while going door to door and should be available upon request by a resident. There is a strict "Do Not Knock" Policy (PDF) that must be adhered to or fines and/or suspension of the license may result.

Door-to-Door Solicitation Hours:

Commercial solicitors/peddlers may only visit homes beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending one hour after sunset from October 1st through March 31st and at sunset throughout the rest of the year.

Non-commercial, religious and/or political canvassers and solicitors protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution shall be permitted to perform those activities without a license, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week.

Filming

Entities seeking to film in Livingston must complete an application to film or permit filming in the Township, and submit it to the Municipal Clerk's office. Visit the LTown Film page for more information. 

Liquor Licenses

All liquor licenses are currently accounted for. Licenses must be renewed yearly by the license holder. The term is from July 1st to June 30th. The State also offers other types of liquor licenses to qualified non-profit organizations. For more information about liquor licenses visit the NJ Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Raffle or Bingo Licenses

Any nonprofit organization may apply for a raffle or bingo license for any event that is being held in the Township of Livingston. The applicant must have a current bi-annual registration ID from the State in order to apply for a license. 

See the Raffle Application Packet (PDF) or the Bingo Application Packet (PDF); complete and submit the application in triplicate to the Municipal Clerk's office. Be sure to include the Background Check Form (PDF) with the application. The Background Check Form must be completed by the applicant's local (hometown) police department.

Taxi/Limousine Service 

All drivers must submit a Limousine/Taxi Driver Application (PDF) with completed background check from Livingston Police Dept. and include and submit it with a $5 processing fee to the Municipal Clerk’s office. Applicants must also file their Certificate of Liability Insurance with the Municipal Clerk’s office. View the Taxi and Limousine Code.
