Effective September 1, 2011 all employees of State and local government must reside in the State of NJ, unless exempted under law.
If you already work for State or local government as of September 1, 2011 and you do not live in NJ, you are not required to move to NJ if there is no more than a seven day break in employment.
However, if you begin your office, position or employment on September 1, 2011 or later, you must reside in NJ. If you do not reside in NJ, you have one year after the date you take your office, position or employment to relocate your residence to NJ. If you do not do so, you are subject to removal from your office, position or employment.

one time Human Resources was known as “Personnel” but
today, in an effort to recognize that our employees are our greatest
asset, it has become known as “Human Resources.”
This
department is not only responsible for staffing and employment activities
but also for many other functions including personnel policies and
procedures, benefits programs, compliance issues, compensation research,
training and development and performance management.

The mission of the Human Resource Department is to support the goals
and challenges of the Township of Livingston by providing services
that promote a work environment characterized by fair treatment of
staff, open communications, personal accountability, trust and mutual
respect. We will seek and provide solutions to workplace issues
that support and optimize the operating principles of the Township.

Where can I find out about open positions in the Township?
All open positions are posted on the township’s website under
“Employment Opportunities.” We also post openings
on Township bulletin boards throughout the various township buildings.
When advertising, we utilize local newspapers and/or specific professional
or trade publications that would be applicable to the open position.
We also may post open positions at local colleges or on various websites.

Application forms are available in Town Hall, 357 South Livingston
Avenue, from the Manager’s Office, Clerk’s Office or Human
