Livingston residents may submit an “Unoccupied Building" form when their home will be vacant for an extended period of time, such as during a vacation. The Vacant House Program enables a police officer, during his or her normal patrol and when time permits, to check vacant houses.

Application Process

Residents need to complete a few simple steps to utilize this program:

  • Complete the Unoccupied Building Form (PDF) and print it out
  • Sign a release form and attach a $1 processing fee
  • Bring the form to Police Headquarters at 333 S. Livingston Avenue

This can be done 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
