COVID-19 - Temporary Inspection Procedures

Please Note: Out of an abundance of caution, as of March 17, 2020, the Fire Department will not be conducting in-person inspections until further notice.

Until further notice, requests for smoke detector inspections will be handled through an affidavit process. 

Please complete the affidavit form, have the completed form notarized, and mail the completed, notarized form along with a check for the $50 fee, payable to the Township of Livingston to:

For Sale or Rental of One- & Two-Family Homes

In order to sell or rent your one- or two-family home in the Township of Livingston you must complete a Home Fire Inspection, which will be conducted by the Livingston Fire Department. This is required and you will not be able to sell your home or allow a renter to occupy the premises until the property has passed the inspection.

There is a required $50 fee for each initial inspection. For each re-inspection required following an unsuccessful initial inspection, there is an additional charge of $25. Please make all checks payable to the Township of Livingston.
