Summer and Seasonal Jobs with SYLS
Our Open House is back! ADDITIONAL DATE ADDED
We will be hosting an Open House this year to interview summer job candidates:
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 2022
3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Livingston Senior/Community Center, Lower Level
204 Hillside Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039
No appointment is needed for the Open House -- just walk in during either session! Supervisors will be conducting on-site interviews for the following positions:
- Camp Counselors
- Lead Counselors
- Counselors in Training (volunteer positions for rising 9th graders)
- Camp Maintenance Workers
- Snack Bar Attendants
To apply for one of the positions listed above, bring the required documents to the Open House event and be prepared for a short interview.
What to Bring
All applicants should bring a completed Employment Application (PDF) and a copy of their school ID and/or photo ID and should be prepared to interview at the Open House. Note: To complete the application electronically, download and save the PDF first. Then open it, fill it out, save your changes, and print.
Lifeguard candidates should also bring a copy of their Lifeguard Training and CPR/AED Certifications.
Individuals seeking employment as lifeguards at Livingston Community Pools must be certified prior to applying for a summer job.

Pool employees (lifeguards and snack bar attendants) must be at least 15 years old by May 1, 2022.
Camp employees must be entering 10th grade. Counselors in Training must be entering 9th grade.
All minors under the age of 18 who work in New Jersey must have an employment certificate – also called “working papers.” We will provide the form to employees under 18 who are offered a position and accept, along with other new hire documents. Please note that returning employees under 18 will need to complete working papers each year (even if they were completed previously). More information: Employment Certificates (State of New Jersey)
All camp staff will be required to work the full SIX weeks! Vacation days will not be granted. Excused absences may be granted such as: college orientation and/or doctor’s appointment. Proper paperwork is required for these requests with approval from Camp Director.
Snack Bar: Availability during most weekends throughout the summer is required.
Lifeguards must be available to work every weekend during the pool season. Adherence to the attendance policy in the lifeguard handbook is required, including giving required notice for absences.
